Paphos Cyprus springtime

They call me ‘Mening’ or ‘Men’.
It’s short for ‘Maximina’, which is a mouthful at four syllables.

I was a working student, and have been working full-time since I was 16 years old.
In my over 40 years in the workforce, I’ve been a tutor of stenography, a bookkeeper, census officer, court stenographer, secretary, personal assistant, until I worked my way up to a senior managerial position at a multinational insurance company.

My first airplane ride was when I was already 27 years old.
I was 27 years old when I left the comforts of my home, and ventured into something new. I was offered a job overseas as a medical secretary in the director’s office of a 500-bed multi-specialty government hospital in Western Asia.

I completed my Bachelor’s Degree at age 38.
Wherever my job took me, I saw to it that I continue my studies, albeit irregularly. At age 38, I finally earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from an American University.

I retired in 2014 at age 57.
For health reasons, I retired earlier than originally planned at age 57.

Cliché as it may sound, there really is no place like Home.
Once again, I now enjoy a very simple way of life in the comforts of home.
